The Journal Challenge

For the next 28 days, PCC will be reading one chapter of the book of Acts each day and recording our observations from the Scripture reading and writing out our prayers in a daily journal.

We are going to do this for a few reasons:

1) To deepen our walk with God in 2008 by spending time with Him each day.

2) To develop good spiritual habits and take personal responsibility to read the Bible, pray and keep a prayer journal. (They say that if you can do something at least 20 times in a row that it forms a habit.)

3) To strengthen the unity of our church family by all focusing on the same Scripture and allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to us as a collective community of faith.

Here's how to keep a prayer journal. Each day you read a chapter of Acts and choose one verse that really stuck out to you and write it down. Next, write down what the main chapter or particular passage means to you. Then apply to your life by writing down what you think God wants you to do in response to what you just read. Last of all, write out a simple prayer for the day.

I've decided to post my prayer journal online to help those who've never practiced this spiritual discipline see what it looks like and to also let you know what God is speaking to my heart during this month of focused prayer and fasting.

I'm totally excited about what these next 28 days are going to do for our church family and for what God is going to do in your life. Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

If you would like to receive a journal, please email my assistant Erin at ebaker@poconocc.com and request one ASAP.
